The Waseca County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse is a volunteer organization that was founded in 1969 by Sheriff Donald D. Eustice and sought volunteers that were interested and had a horse. The Sheriff’s Posse member volunteer their time for various events throughout the year including, scene and perimeter security, disaster response, search and rescue, patrols and much more. In 2013, due to the declining members having horses, Sheriff Posse members modified the requirement of having a horse to recommending a horse or ATV. Applicants can be anyone over 21 with a good background, driving record and good civic involvement allowed to make application, with an option of owning a horse or ATV.
